Afterglow — an AI conversation-practice app
This policy explains what Afterglow collects, why, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it. It covers the mobile app and the service behind it.
Afterglow is for adults. You must be 18 or over to use it.

You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive and store the account identifier those services give us — an opaque string that identifies you to us. We do not receive or store your password.
If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we never see your real address. We do not require an email address to use Afterglow.

All of it is optional except a display name, and all of it can be changed or cleared at any time.
What you type during a simulated date is stored, along with the characters' replies and a record of how the simulated relationship developed. This is the core of the product: it is what lets a conversation continue coherently and what the end-of-date report is built from.
From your conversations we build a behavioural profile — an internal model of your conversational style (for example how direct, humorous or curious your messages tend to be). It exists to make characters respond to you specifically, and to produce your feedback report. It is never shown to anyone but you, and never sold or shared for marketing.
Usage counters for the AI processing your account consumes, subscription and entitlement records, and ordinary server logs. Logs may briefly contain an IP address as a normal part of running a web service.
Your conversation text is sent to Anthropic.
Afterglow generates character dialogue using Anthropic's Claude API. To do that, the text you write during a date — along with the conversation so far and the profile context described above — is transmitted to Anthropic, which processes it and returns the reply you see.
Anthropic acts as a processor on our behalf under its commercial terms. Do not type anything into a date that you would not want leaving your device: real names, addresses, financial details, health information or anyone else's private information. Afterglow is a practice tool, not a private diary.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose data where the law requires it.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved safeguard.
Open Profile in the app and choose Delete account. This removes your account and its data from our live systems. It cannot be undone, and your conversations and reports go with it.
You can also write to play@jmak.games and we will do it for you.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive it in a portable form, and complain to your data protection authority. Contact play@jmak.games and we will respond within the period the law allows.
Traffic between the app and our service is encrypted with HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are held in the operating system's secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). Access to production data is limited to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Afterglow is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, write to play@jmak.games and we will delete it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
